Jeppesen ForeFlight
By 2015, FliteDeck Pro had become Jeppesen’s most successful mobile application and the industry’s leading electronic charting solution for commercial airlines. But despite its success, FliteDeck Pro faced growing challenges. Pilots struggled with information overload, inconsistent saliency, and limited access to critical data.
At the time, FliteDeck Pro 3.0 was the largest redesign in the product’s history—a complete rethinking of how pilots access, interpret, and act on navigation information.
Aviator is Jeppesen’s next‑generation hub for preflight information, designed to unify critical aviation data and streamline pilot workflows. While the platform already connected to a wide range of digital aviation sources, two essential capabilities were missing:

A dynamic, route‑aware weather visualization, and

An integrated flight computer for quick, reliable pre‑flight calculations.
Airlines operating mixed fleets often rely on multiple OEM‑specific applications—or homegrown tools—to run critical takeoff and landing performance calculations. These fragmented workflows create inefficiencies, training burdens, and operational risk. Jeppesen set out to build a single, flexible performance application capable of supporting any aircraft type, regardless of manufacturer.
J‑OPT aimed to solve this by creating one performance tool to rule them all—a unified, configurable application that could support any aircraft in an operator’s fleet.
Boeing’s Onboard Performance Tool (OPT) is a mission‑critical application used by pilots worldwide to calculate takeoff and landing performance. Despite its technical strength and broad platform support (Class 3 EFB, iPadOS, Windows 10/11), its UI had fallen out of alignment with Boeing’s other flagship EFB application, FlightDeck Pro (FD Pro). This inconsistency created friction for operators who relied on both tools during flight operations.
